The Honorable Edward Parker

Excerpts by David A. Parker and Janet F. Auman

Edward Parker was born to Felix and Eliza Jane Lincks Parker on October 30, 1856 in Laurel County, Kentucky. He died in Yakima, Washington on April 16, 1926. (Source: Ancestry.com)

He lived most of his life in Laurel County and was a School Superintendent, a lawyer, served in both the House and Senate and most notably, contracted 1/2 of the "Star Mail Routes" which represented rural delivery of mail, all across the nation. He moved to Yakima, Washington in his last years, where he "retired" to farming an apple orchard. (Excerpt David A. Parker)

Edward Parker was not buried at London in the lot where he laid his two daughter's Nannie and Eliza to rest, but they are buried in London (A.R. Dyche Cemetery) along with his brother Dr. J.W. Parker and his wife Elizabeth Parker. His ex-wife Matilda K. Lovell is also buried there. Nannie died in 1896 and was buried in a lot next to the Parker Estate. The place was known for years as the Parker Cemetery because he allowed others to be buried there and eventually donated the land to the city. (Excerpt David A. Parker)

Edward moved to where his brother Fredrick was a practicing attorney in Washington State. He bought a sizable apple orchard that prospered for many years after his death. Edward is buried in Yakima, Washington (Tahoma Cemetery) with his second wife Julia, and his brothers Fred and Alford. His mother Eliza Jane Lincks Parker is also buried there. Edward's father (David A. Parker's 4th great-grandfather & Janet F. Auman's 3rd great-grandfather) Felix Parker died in Laurel County in 1896 (the same year Nannie died) and is buried in Laurel County. (Excerpt David A. Parker)
